Biography:
Let me introduce myself. I'm Lloyd Rempel and I am the owner and founder of Lloyd Rempel Photography + Video. As you can see from my picture - I'm not exactly a young punk. I've been a photographer since 1979. I started my business in my hometown of Rosenort, Manitoba where I began as an aerial photographer. If you travel in southern Manitoba and know any farmers with an aerial photo of their homesteads from the late 1970's - there's a good likelihood that it's my work.

Since most people only need one photo of their homesteads, the demand for aerial photos began to dwindle off. I in turn needed to change with the times and was looking to expand my skills. I began taking more family portraits and shooting weddings.  In 1985, I moved to Winnipeg where I now operate the business out of my home. Weddings have now become my primary focus.  Family and commercial photography contribute to the business to a lesser degree. I have taken a number of courses which have allowed me to increase the quality of my portraits. In addition I have studied under some of the best names in the business such as Joseph Zeltsman and Monte Zucker. I have taken courses about lighting which is very important for quality photographs. I have also attended many conventions in order to expand my abilities.

As many of you are likely aware, education isn't everything. You need to put what you've learned into practice. I have shot many rolls of film and spent a lot of time practicing. My younger brother Kelly who was the "model" for many of my lighting tests can vouch for this. It would certainly be appropriate at this time for you to feel sympathy for Kelly. I'm sure I couldn't count the number of rolls of film that Kelly posed for. (Thanks Kelly!!)

Through my photography business, I also realize that there was demand for videography. In the early 80's when VHS gained popularity I made efforts to expand in this direction. With regard to video productions, I am entirely self taught. From the beginning I made it my goal to concentrate on capturing videos with clear sound and picture. I have continually invested in the equipment necessary to accomplish this task and have honed my skills in this area over the years.

On a more personal note - I have a wonderful wife Lorna and a darling little son named Joshua. Joshua is a leap year baby born in 2004 and if you come to meet with me, he just might welcome you at the door!
